Lilliput Gal Makes Her Debut

Lilliput Gals 005

The Lilliput Gals have been clamoring for days about getting out of my sketchbooks and enjoying more of the big world.  They squealed with excitement whey I told them that I would give them all makeovers.
Say hi to Gwen.  She is very shy, loves nature and has kept a diary since she was 12. (her words)

A gift of blank cards for my Mother-in-law.  She is one who still sends hand written cards and letters regularly, and she always seems to have the perfect card for just the right occasion. This month is her birthday and I hope that she likes them.  There is something so satisfying about giving a love-made gift.

Six deckled cards with matching envelopes.

Sketchbook Fun

Some sketchbook drawings done over the past couple months.

The blue flowers are Lobelia.  All are painted with gouache. Notice the beetle leg peeking into the lily drawing.

Sweet Potato Vine

Sweet Potato Vine

After watching for a few weeks as an organic sweet potato sprouted and grew leaves on my kitchen counter, I finally planted it outside in a pot.  This is what it looked like a few days ago, but today it’s 3x bigger.

Sketchbook Fun – Hibiscus

Hibiscus study drawn with black fountain pen. Color added with Prismacolor  colored pencil.

Sketchbook Botanical Study

A sketchbook study for a painting in progress.  Looking at the photo, I see I overdid the white.  It was an opaque white so  I think that a transparent white in the final painting will work better.
