Thought I’d post a cool photo while I work on some art projects. I love these wasps and photograph them with great respect as they are very protective of their nests, and will sting. You will notice that some of the cells in this nest are capped closed. The larvae spin silk over the opening of their cell prior to entering the pupal stage. Each day I watch as more and more cells are enclosed.
Drew Frank Sinatra for Mom back in 2002. I loved that SHE loved it! Mom passed in ’07 and Frank has been in my garage since. Friend and fellow Blogger, AnnMarie, inadvertently reminded me of this piece, so I pulled it out, dusted it off and am posting it for her. Stop by and check out her awesome poetry and art at Ann Together.
This is a Paper Wasp watercolor sketched in my Crescent sketchbook. The Crescent sketchbook is predominantly for work with markers, they don’t bleed through to the next page. Still not sure if I like the way the paper accepts watercolor. However, for Copic and Prismacolor Markers, Crescent is awesome. Oh, and one last thing, this paper has a very slight greyish hue, it’s not labeled or considered a “toned” paper though.
